Relax, Rewire, and Recharge:
Transformative Writing as Self Care

Reduce stress and burnout through the exploratory use of expressive writing. Attendees will gain knowledge about their own coping style when faced with
the multiple losses, traumas, and emotional ups and downs in their
personal and professional lives.

Using poetry and prose, the workshop will introduce attendees to
techniques for using language and imagery to transform emotions into
vibrant verses and narratives.

Thomas is a poet and the Poet-in-Residence at NewYork-Presbyterian/Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital where he brings expressive writing services to the bedsides of hospitalized teenagers and their families. A practitioner of narrative medicine, Thomas has presented internationally on the subject of pediatric illness narratives and offers therapeutic writing workshops to professionals, medical students, hospital staff, and mental health practitioners.

A Community Meditation Group

Please note: we are on summer break and will return
after Labor Day

Sunday Morning   •  12 noon —1:30 pm

Enjoy silent meditation in the tradition of your choice. Beginners through advanced meditators are all welcome. Brief instruction will be provided if desired. We will do a 1/2 hour silent seated meditation. We will break for snacks followed by sharing or walking meditation. The goal is have a community to help support our practice. It is an informal and nonjudgmental group. Come in the front door and up the stairs to the studio.

Please remove your shoes in the vestibule just outside the studio door. Chairs, yoga mats, blankets, snacks and tea will be provided.
Bring a meditation cushion if you like. The group is free of charge. Donations to help pay for the space are appreciated.

Drop-ins are welcome     |    If you are late just come in quietly
