“There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action; and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique.  If you block it, it will never exist in any other medium and it will be lost.  The world will not have it.  You must keep that channel open.  It is not for you to determine how good it is, nor how valuable.  Nor how it compares with other expressions.  It is for you to keep it yours, clearly, and directly.”  — Martha Graham

Linda Kawer, LCSW is a psychotherapist who has had a private practice in New York's Hudson Valley for over thirty years. Linda Kawer's earlier career in medical biochemical research together with her many years of clinical and administrative experience working with trauma and addictions in community mental health have informed her understanding of psychodynamics, neurobiology and human development.

She integrates a wide range of experience into a psychotherapeutic approach that embraces the use of dreams, myths and metaphors - working with both symbols and symptoms - in the healing process.

Linda Kawer believes in the transformative potential of deep therapeutic work and understands the body's capacity for memory and healing. She is a graduate of Marion Woodman's BodySoul Rhythms© Leadership Program and has been trained as a 50/50 Pathwork Helper. Her work with mentor Marion Woodman, well-known analyst and author, is woven into her psychotherapy with individuals, couples, families and groups.

Linda also offers consultation and supervision for professionals.

She is a member of a Critical Incident Team. She has worked as a 10 year veteran of a hospital patient team, a soup kitchen worker and an Ulster Literacy Tutor.

Marg uses eclectic skill building techniques to develop personal power and recognize unhealthy patterns of interaction. Her approaches for treatment are through Behavior Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Family Systems Therapy. Treatment is administered from the Strengths Perspective.

Marg presents her awareness of how Attitude affects our lives:

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.

“Attitude to me is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearances, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company..a church…a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for the day. We cannot change our past…we cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have…and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you. We are in charge of our Attitudes.” -C. Swindoll
